Carolinas Game Summit; UDK Game Development; Skyrim Mod; Dark Ascension and Much More

Hello once again peeps. It’s been another month of no posting, mostly because I’m lazy, as I’ll elaborate later I’ve had plenty of time, just not enough time all at once.

So I previously mentioned that my brother, my best friend and I have all been working on a AAA quality game in the Unreal Developments Kit using nothing but strong will and a passion for game development. It has been coming along great for quite a while — we have concepts all laid out and we have almost completely drafted our design document — but we’ve finally hit our roadblock. We need hardware. Our computers cannot handle the strain of the UDK and professional grade programs such as 3DS Max and Mudbox. The reason I bring this up is because it leads me into the next topic.

We’ve found out how we can get a kick-ass gaming rig…the catch?

We have to win it.

We have now shifted gears to work on a mod for Skyrim Nexus’ Elder Scrolls Creation Kit Modding Competition

While we know that we don’t exactly have a great shot at winning — lets be honest, we’ve trying to pump out a complex mod in less than a month with no prior experience with this system — we did need a break from hammering on our main project and we don’t really have anything to lose. The mod itself is a story driven quest chain derived from Skyrim’s main quest. At this point we need voice actors and everything else is almost done, so if you happen to be interested or know a voice actor interested in this opportunity please send them here.

A few more things,

At the beginning of the month I attended the 2012 Carolinas’ Game Summit where I met* some awesome people, saw Master Chief get schooled in Just Dance 2, signed up to test for Redstorm Entertainment and entered a free Magic: the Gathering Dark Ascension Release draft. I also met some guys who are working on this neat tablet game called Saturday Morning RPG.

*Met in this context refers to looking upon people and then immediately hiding in the corner like the shy kid I am.

Kindoms of Amalur: Reckoning, The Darkness, and a whole lots of other neat-o things came out this month. Haven’t played any of them. I haven’t been to work in several weeks and have even less money than I did when Skyrim came out.

Also, Mass Effect 3 Demo came out the other day. Played multiplayer last night, it’s pretty good.

Well, I guess that’s about it. I know not many people will ever see this, but that’s alright, I do this for me; but if I ever did gain a following, that would be cool too.
