Geekin’ Out…

So I haven’t posted in a week and a half, that of course is only the case if you count my post two weeks ago, which was essentially me just sharing info Sony’s Playstation Vita. Regardless, it has been quite a while since I have been regularly updating my blog, and there are a few reasons for this:

  • I don’t feel like being strapped to my computer. I would willingly sit in front of a computer for hours If I am doing what I want to do, but to be honest, I’ve been sort of bored of blogging. It’s not that I don’t have anything to share with the world, it’s just that It takes me nearly an hour to properly support each post with information images etc., and as of late I’ve just felt like not putting up with the hassle, especially since I am somewhat out of the loop with gaming news and ergo cannot provide my opinions on such things.
  • I’m on holiday. I’ve been running myself into the ground with school and I really just need a break. Last week I spent a beautiful three days with my amazing female counterpart – you know, the one I always mention as I go off into a tangent. In addition to wanting to relax, there are also so many things I want to do while I have the free time, like helping my brother develop our game, actually get some sleep, or even spend time with friends.
  • I’ve been busy. As many adults are well aware the holiday season is a hectic one. Friends and family are in town, there are a lot of reunions, parties and whatnot and on top of that I’ve had to work like crazy. I’ve been trying to put in hours at my job to counterbalance both the time I’ve had to take off for exams and sick days as well as the possibility of not being able to work over the summer due to the internship with Blizzard. With that said, I am also continuing the preparation of my application materials as well; it being another thing on my to-do list before my break is over.

So, all that aside I do have a few things to share.

Today — okay, technically yesterday — I went to my local card/comic store to play some MTG with the guys up there. My brother, who had been playing Magic a good bit at his school, somehow managed to re-spark my interest in the game — although I’ll always be more of a collector than a player. The store was hosting a Free Standard Constructed Tournament, and I literally had no cards for a deck. I had a total of five boosters worth of Standard legal cards that I had either bought or received as gifts over the past week, and I had to borrow some of my brother’s in order to even piece together something to play with.
Anyway, long story short I got completely pwn’d, and I’m alright with that, because halfway through the tournament a certain special someone of mine comes out of nowhere, gives me a sudden kiss and gives me a Brand New Signature Edition Assassin’s Creed Revelations.

To stop myself from going on a tangent about how great my girlfriend is, I will now  focus on what this actually means for me.

While I am not a huge fan of the overly cinematic nature of the Assassin’s Creed series, I have really fallen in love with the story, and the free roaming but guided gameplay definitely doesn’t hurt either. Actually owning this game means that, in addition to continuing this story before it gets spoiled for me, I can now actually have a solid case to hold a spot in my collection as well as having the ability to play Assassin’s Creed multiplayer.
While Assassin’s Creed: Brotherhood introduced multiplayer to the series I didn’t really get to play it all that much because I had to borrow it from a friend. I’m not exactly sure how I stand on including multiplayer in every game nowadays — even Ninja Gaiden III is slated to have competitive multiplayer at launch — I am really excited to actually have a new game that I can add to my collection, play through, and then play it whenever I get the itch for a particular type of multiplayer experience.

Anyway that’s about all. I’m really tired, been up all night organizing my Magic cards and typing up this post, so I will share more later. Thanks for reading, and have a Merry Christmas*.

*I wish you a Happy Holidays as well.
