World of Warcraft Patch 4.3 Release; Internship With Blizzard and The Old Republic Beta Ends

I heard word this morning that Blizzard has released their latest content patch for World of Warcraft: Cataclysm. Last year I would have been able to confirm a new patch immediate, but I stopped playing World of Warcraft a few months ago. Upon searching I found this to be true, although the World of Warcraft website is down and the news server on my own client won’t come up as I am on a public network at the moment.

The latest patch is called Hour of Twilight. While all I can really see is it will involve knocking off Deathwing, my girlfriend is a World of Warcraft “enthusiast;”therefore, I’ll know everything there is to know about the patch by tomorrow morning. As I mentioned before, the World of Warcraft website was offline this morning so I couldn’t view the official patch notes, so I ended up turning to wowpedia for them. seems pretty interesting and I wish I could offer an opinion, but I don’t play anymore so it’s difficult to judge.

The only thing I can say is I want to make Deathwing pay for destroying my beloved Stormwind, but not for $15 a month on a college budget with no one consistent and capable to raid with.

Anyway, at the mention of Blizzard Entertainment, I am excited to admit that I am applying for a internship there this summer. Honestly, I feel that I shouldn’t go blog in detail about this subject and jeopardize the opportunity I have been given, but if I get accepted for any of the intern positions to which I am applying I will have to endure a huge financial hit anyway, as I will have to find means of travel to California and find suitable housing for a whole summer — not cheap —  and all on a college student’s income, meager at best. Therefore, it will simply suffice to say that I am very excited about the opportunity. I want to get into the video game industry almost to the point of absurdity.  While I don’t really know what I want to do in the industry at the moment, any experience I can get will really help me. To a lesser degree, I am also excited to get on the inside of a development studio, even if there is a possibility that I’m diving headfirst into a dragon’s maw. We’ll see how it goes, I would love to have this kind of opportunity, but the fact is I’m a Freshman at a small private liberal arts college in the southeastern United States, who has been a lifelong fan of games and has put numerous hours into working on creating them, but has never completed a full project and has hardly any formal training or experience.

On a slightly less hopefully depressing note, my twin brother managed to make it into the beta for The Old Republic. I only really got to see glimpses of gameplay, but the fact of the matter is there is tons of dialogue and, while the graphics are not fantastic (mainly because his computer sucks and its an MMORPG,) it looks to me as if he is playing a single player BioWare game. Luckily for me, the beta he is in is a BioWare server stress test; many people are playing and BioWare has lifted most of the game from NDA so I’ve had the privilege of hearing my brother ramble about it. I’ll see if I can get him to type up a few lines.

Well, I think that’s all I have this morning, thanks for reading and happy gaming.

Actually, one last note. I finished the Skyrim main quest; it wasn’t as good as Oblivion in my opinion.
Review and First Top 10 imminent.
