Spike TV’s Video Game Awards

So I mentioned earlier that Spike TV’s Video Game Awards aired tonight. I tuned in, although I am not a huge fan of the mainstream portion of the game industry I must admit I was still pretty excited to watch it. At it’s core it is still about games and it is still something to celebrate, although I do agree with NowGamer_Dave, and his tweet earlier tonight saying “As I said earlier, the VGAs has more fluff than a Build-A-Bear Factory.” With that said, here’s the lowdown on the 2011 Spike TV Video Game Awards.

I grin and bear it, they need to stay popular to get views. That’s just how television works. I’ll have more for you guys tomorrow, but I’m headed to bed. Really glad Minecraft made it in the show, once again due to popularity, but hey, Mojang earned it.

Finally, what I consider the highlight of the night:

The Legend of Zelda franchise first ever inductee in the video game Hall of Fame.

Congratulations to Shigeru Miyamoto and Nintendo for bringing life to such a groundbreaking series, and I feel personally grateful for their contributions to the gaming industry. To see them recognized for the creation of one of my earliest childhood influences is actually very touching and I wish Mr. Miyamoto and company well in the coming years..
