Hello and welcome! It has been quite a while since my last post and I would like to jump straight to
THE DESERTEAGLE PWN SUPER SUMMER OF DILIGENT GAME DEVELOPMENT
(Summer of Dev. for Short)
Those who have been following me are aware that I am currently going to school in pursuit of double bachelors degrees in Electrical and Computer Engineering (ECE), and that making, critiquing and playing games is what I do. Being an undergraduate engineering student allows me to solve some simple problems. For instance:
PROBLEM: As a student in ECE I don’t have time while in school to work on games, yet in order to work in games for a living I need to actually release projects.
SOLUTION: Dedicate an entire summer to full-time game development and actually finish outstanding projects.
With this is mind, I decided to take this summer off of paid work, with no coops, internships or schooling, and focus on what I like to do: make games. I will be regularly posting updates to the blog and will share my experiences as I go through this process… hopefully this can be a learning experience and if I achieve my goal I will have at least two very different projects done by the time I head back to school.
As of now, these are the projects being worked on this summer, in terms of my priority to finishing them:
- A Big Mistake ( Fully voiced dungeon and quest mod for The Elder Scrolls V: Skyrim using the TESV Creation Kit that I have been working on with my twin brother who can now no longer help me due to school/work commitments.)
- Cynapse TD — Alpha ( Tower Defense project with my school’s Video Game Development Club (VGDC), made in Unity as a Windows store app; I will be organizing the production of the game as well as doing a bit of the game’s code and design.)
(An unnamed chess game that I started for a spontaneous 48 hour independent game jam to learn my way around Blender and Unity. The game has assets created by yours truly and now just needs some more code.)
I hope that you guys will follow along and learn from my experiences and who knows; maybe it’ll give you a first glimpse at what is coming to Steam Workshop or an App Store near you!
